Obituary for Shirley Eileen (Gettys) Schack
Shirley, age 88, of Littleton, CO passed away peacefully April 10, 2017, with family by her side. She was born February 5, 1929 to William and Flossie Gettys on a farm just south of Grainton, NE. She was one of three sisters. She spent her early school years in Greeley, CO then moved to Nebraska and graduated from Grainton High School.
She married her loving husband, Gene Schack on September 6, 1947 in Castle Rock, CO. They enjoyed 69 years and seven months of wonderful marriage together. She and Gene have two sons, Randy and Rick. Their family moved to Colorado in 1967 at which point Gene worked for Honeywell for 11 years until they started a successful real estate business. They worked hard renovating and updating numerous homes around Denver. Shirley was a caring homemaker. Shirley loved gardening, decorating their home and having her family nearby as she enjoyed watching the kids grow up.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband Gene, their sons Randy (Becky) of Highlands Ranch, CO and Rick (Shirlynn) of Carmel, IN. They have six granddaughters and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and both her sisters, Alice and Elsie.
A memorial has been established in Shirley’s memory at Suncrest Hospice and Heritage United Methodist Church in Littleton, CO.
Remains will be memorialized at Olinger Mount Lindo near Morrison, CO.
