Obituary for Rose M Victor
Rose Mary Victor, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Golden on February 26th, with her family by her side. Rose was born in Columbus, Nebraska and grew up in nearby Grand Island. She was one of ten children of Martin Caffrey and Catherine (Powers) Caffrey. She is predeceased by her parents and all nine of her siblings, as well as by a niece and a nephew. Rose enjoyed her large family and recounting many stories of her brothers, sisters, and a cast of lively characters during the Great Depression and WWII. After graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1953, Rose followed in her father’s footsteps and joined the Union Pacific Railroad, Co. It was in Omaha where she met the love of her life, Joe Victor. They married in 1957 and later moved to Colorado. Rose is survived by her husband of 61 years, Herman Joseph Victor; three children, Steven Victor and wife, Karen of Walnut Creek CA, Shannon Barker and husband, Todd of Fort Collins CO, and Joseph Victor, of Parker CO, and four grandchildren; Emily, Kristina, Ryan and Sebastian; and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. Rose and Joe raised their family in Golden and later on Lookout Mountain. Rose was known for her Irish wit, her warm, loving smile, and her kind and compassionate heart. She cherished each moment she spent with her family and friends. She always remembered everyone’s milestones and sent them thoughtful gifts and cards. Rose was thrilled to gather the relatives for family reunions. Proud of her Irish ancestry, she turned her love of family into a passion for genealogy and took the family to visit her relatives in Ireland. Well-known for her fabulous laugh and cheerful optimism, family and friends could always count on Rose for encouragement, support, humor, empathy and love. She will be deeply missed by many. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary at 9:30 am, on Tuesday March 5, 2019, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Golden. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Catholic Charities or to St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish.
